A limited number of carriers have introduced support for real-time notifications, and we’re excited to offer this feature to our premium subscribers.
Normally, deliveries in Parcel are updated periodically by our app servers. Parcel checks at regular intervals to see whether new updates are available for your deliveries.
With real-time notifications, updates come directly from the carrier. For example, when a package is handed to you, the delivery person scans it to confirm delivery and records the event in the carrier’s database. Once that record is received by the carrier, they notify Parcel of the event, which immediately triggers an update in the app.
Please note that it can sometimes take time for a carrier to record a new event on their end, so delays are still possible. However, in most cases, they should not exceed 10 minutes.
If you are a premium subscriber, real-time notifications are enabled automatically for supported carriers, subject to the limits listed below.
No. In most cases, carriers that support this feature charge Parcel for each tracked delivery. For this reason, real-time notifications are available only to premium subscribers and are subject to strict limits.
FedEx Express deliveries
Limited to one delivery per calendar month. The app also has a global monthly limit across all subscribers, which may be reached before the end of the month. We are working to remove this limitation.
Domestic USPS deliveries
Available for domestic U.S. deliveries only. Limited to three deliveries per calendar month.
I am actively working on adding support for real-time notifications for more carriers. However, availability depends largely on whether a carrier supports this feature.
